Frequently Asked Questions

How can I make a booking?

Before I can book you in I need all of the relevant information for the design. This will include the style, size, placement on the body and whether colour or black and grey. You can send me this info via e-mail or Instagram, or if you would like a detailed list of the required information then please fill out the form on my contact page, which explains everything I need from you in order to provide you with a quote. Please note that during busy periods it can take me a few days to respond to messages.

Can I see the design before the appointment?

Unfortunately, due to the time it takes to prepare custom designs for each client, it is not possible for me to send out drawings in advance. I ask for detailed information at the booking stage so I can be sure to include everything you would like in your design. If something is not quite right on the day, then we can make any necessary tweaks or changes together at the time if your appointment. Ultimately I want you to be happy with the design!

How can I prepare for my appointment?

To ensure the best possible results, gently exfoliate and moisturise the area to be tattooed in the weeks leading up to your appointment. A week beforehand, stop exfoliating and continue to keep the skin well moisturised.

On the day of your tattoo, no special skin preparation is needed, just make sure you’re well rested and have eaten a substantial meal beforehand. Please note that I’m unable to tattoo skin that is bruised or sunburnt.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Tattooing can be a messy process, so please avoid wearing your favourite clothes as there is a chance ink may get on them, and it doesn’t wash out. I recommend dark, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area being tattooed.

For sternum or spine tattoos, a loose shirt or zip-up hoodie works well for keeping warm and covering areas not being tattooed; these can be worn normally or backwards to allow access to the spine. For leg tattoos, loose skirts and trousers, or shorts are ideal, while sleeveless tops are perfect for arm tattoos.

Please keep in mind that you’ll need to wear the same clothes home after your appointment, so avoid anything tight or likely to rub against your new tattoo.

Can I get tattooed whilst pregnant/breastfeeding?

Please do not book in for a tattoo if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Getting tattooed always carries a risk of infection as you are essentially creating an open wound. Any infection you might contract can be passed on to the baby whilst pregnant or breastfeeding and can potentially be dangerous.

Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?

There is limited space at the studio, so we have to keep the waiting area for clients with appointments. Please do not bring any extra guests, children or pets with you to your appointment as we try to maintain a calm and relaxing environment for everyone getting tattooed. Both studios are located within the Laines so there are plenty of shops and cafe for friends to visit if you are travelling with others.

How long will it take to heal?

It will depend on the style and placement of the tattoo but this can take anywhere from 4-6 weeks.

How do I get to the studio?

Both of the studios I work from are in central Brighton, less than a 10 minute walk from Brighton Train station. I also recommend the train station for parking as it is one of the cheapest places to park in the city.
